and i am enjoying the quiet and the absence of to-do buzzing through my mind, instead of my fingers knitting my summer sweater and my brain is being lured in by another episode of the wire.

today is a special day. a day of celebrating, remembering, and appreciating the mamas in our lives.

though i am too young to remember being at that beach in california with my mom and sister, my brains tricks me into thinking that i remember being there. maybe i remember being there because i know who my mama. i know she came over to look at my sand castle when i asked. i know she explained the different kind of sea shells. i know she made sure both amanda and i lathered up with sunscreen. i know she laughed and played with us.

unfortunately kansas does not have beaches, but my mama is still the same. she comes over to admire my newest house project. she explains different situations and provides wisdom. she takes care of me by reminding me not to hydroplane while driving. and of course we still laugh and play (currently our play involves hitting up flea markets)

i told her that i look forward to sharing this holiday with her someday. but today, i am just happy to have her as my mama.

if i was rich i would have a never ending supply of raspberries. i would eat them all day and all night. in every form: jelly, jams, tart, cakes, muffins, sorbet…the list could go on.

but today i had a container – 12oz to be exact – of raspberries for myself. yes i did share, but only a few. and not by choice. :)
